ABOUT AIRCLIM-NET
AIRCLIM-NET has been established as an initiative of 20 Polish RTD units and academia representing scientific excellence in the area of air pollution/climate change problems, who expressed interest in undertaking joint research efforts with an ultimate goal to integrate with the European Networks of Excellence.
The scientific mission of AIRCLIM-NET is to serve as a forum that Polish RTD units will use to contribute to the state of the art in addressing air pollution and climate change problems in Europe.
The scientific consensus is that climate change is happening and that human activity is causing the increases in concentrations of greenhouse gases that are the cause of the problem. Therefore, our objective is integration, development and enhancement of knowledge on the changes of processes, which take place in the atmosphere to improve forecasting of European climate change and ecosystems functioning.
Since problems of basic and applied research need both a critical mass of financial and human resources and the combination of complementary expertise from specialists of various domains and from various countries, AIRCLIM-NET has been created to cluster scientific and research potential represented by Polish RTD units and academia to meet the challenges posed by the process of creating European Research Area as well as add a value to the development of European knowledge through participation in project consortia responding to the calls of the 6th Framework Programme of the EU.
In relation to 6 FP, our fields of interest focus on the thematic priorities in the following way:
